A truly stormy weekend
Anyone who is still denying climate change cannot be helped.
One storm after the other sweeps across Europe. Several deaths are reported. Record speeds of wind have been measured on the coasts of England. There are storm surges on the East Sea and North Sea.
So far things have been going quite lightly on the Lower Rhine. Despite wind speeds close to 120 km/h, all trees in our garden are still upright and where they should be. Only a lot of dead wood is now on the ground. Who knows, maybe my wife will work those into wreaths…
Today there is continuous rain with 20 ml/sqm measured so far. And the next storm is approaching tonight.
Despite this, many crocuses are already blooming and the first daffodils are showing colour. The winter cherry is in full bloom and the March cherry is already shimmering.
My heartfelt respect at this point to all voluntary and professional helpers who clear trees and help people in this weather.
I keep my fingers crossed that no one gets hurt!
Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday.
